PDP Suspends Kwara Guber Aspirant Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has suspended a governorship aspirant, Alhaji Ladi Hassan, from all party activities for one month over alleged anti-party activities, acts of indiscipline, and gross misconduct.

The suspension was announced in a letter issued by the Magaji Ngeri Ward Executive Committee in Ilorin West Local Government Area on June 2, 2026.

According to the ward executive committee, Hassan was previously notified of the allegations in a letter dated May 30, 2026, and was directed to appear before a seven-member disciplinary committee within 48 hours to respond to the claims against him.

The committee, however, said Hassan failed to honour the invitation, a development it interpreted as an admission of the allegations levelled against him.

The ward executive committee stated that the disciplinary action was taken in accordance with Sections 57 and 59(1) of the PDP Constitution, which outline sanctions for members found guilty of offences against the party.

In the suspension letter, the committee said Hassan's refusal to appear before the panel constituted an admission of guilt regarding allegations of anti-party activities, indiscipline, and gross misconduct, all of which it said violated the party's principles and code of conduct.

As a result, the committee suspended Hassan from all party functions and activities for one month with immediate effect.

The party also directed the governorship aspirant to stay away from all PDP meetings, programmes, and activities at the ward, local government, state, and national levels throughout the duration of the suspension.
