Pray for Fayose, Not Vilify Him — Makinde

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has appealed to Nigerians to pray for former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, following a series of allegations made against him.

The appeal was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, who described Fayose’s recent comments against the governor as unfounded and misleading.

According to the commissioner, Governor Makinde remains focused on addressing the security challenges confronting Oyo State, particularly efforts to secure the release of children and teachers abducted by gunmen in the state.

Oyelade said the governor was too occupied with coordinating rescue efforts and supporting security agencies to engage in political disputes with the former Ekiti governor.

The commissioner further alleged that some of Fayose’s remarks could distract security operatives from ongoing efforts to rescue the victims and tackle insecurity in the state.

He also referenced previous comments allegedly made by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and linked them to the recent political attacks against the Oyo State government.

Oyelade dismissed earlier allegations by Fayose, including claims that Makinde was plotting against the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, insisting that such accusations lacked credibility.

The commissioner noted that President Bola Tinubu had publicly commended Makinde’s handling of the security situation on separate occasions since the abduction incident occurred on May 15.

He urged residents of Oyo State and Nigerians not to be distracted by political controversies and assured the public that the state government was working closely with security agencies to secure the safe release of the abducted children and teachers.

Oyelade reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property while calling for prayers and understanding as efforts continue to address the security challenges facing the state.

The Federal Government has announced that the traditional khaki uniform of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, will be replaced with Adire fabric as part of ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning the scheme and promoting local production.
