Tinubu Vows to Defeat Terrorism, Banditry, Reaffirms Commitment to National Security

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to defeat terrorism, banditry and other forms of criminality, declaring that the Federal Government will not yield to forces threatening the nation’s peace and security.

The President made the pledge through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, during the National Inter Denominational Church Service held at the National Christian Centre on Sunday as part of activities marking the 2026 Democracy Day celebration.

Addressing worshippers on behalf of the President, Akume said the Tinubu administration remained committed to strengthening security operations across the country while intensifying efforts to secure the release of citizens held captive by criminal groups.

He noted that recent attacks and kidnappings across parts of the country underscored the need for sustained and coordinated action by security agencies.

“The government of Nigeria shall never succumb to terror, banditry or any form of criminal intimidation,” Akume said while delivering the President’s message.

He added that protecting the lives and property of Nigerians remains one of the administration’s highest priorities as it continues to confront security challenges nationwide.

President Tinubu also acknowledged the economic difficulties confronting many citizens and assured Nigerians that his government was implementing measures to ease hardship and improve the delivery of democratic dividends.

According to the President, the administration recognises public concerns over insecurity, inflation and displacement in some parts of the country and is responding with renewed urgency to address the challenges.

The assurance formed part of the Federal Government’s Democracy Day message, reaffirming its commitment to restoring security, stabilising the economy and improving the welfare of Nigerians.
