We Shall Win Osun Guber Poll — Adeleke
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged residents and indigenes of the state to disregard rumours of election rigging and political violence ahead of the forthcoming governorship election, expressing confidence that he will secure victory by a wide margin.
The governor made the appeal while responding to concerns over the credibility of the electoral process, assuring the people that adequate measures had been put in place to ensure that voters exercise their franchise without intimidation or interference.
According to Adeleke, the determination of Osun residents to sustain what he described as good governance has been strengthened by attempts to spread fear and uncertainty about the election.
He maintained that every legitimate vote would count and expressed optimism that he would emerge victorious when the ballots are counted.
“We shall win convincingly and we shall be declared winner with wide margins,” the governor stated.
Adeleke also declared that residents were prepared to defend their democratic rights through lawful means and existing formal and informal structures, insisting that no one could deprive the people of the opportunity to choose their leaders.
He expressed confidence that neither security agencies nor electoral officials would engage in actions capable of undermining the credibility of the election, noting that Osun holds a significant place in Yoruba history and remains the ancestral state of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The governor said his administration and supporters were closely monitoring pre-election developments and had put mechanisms in place to observe activities before, during and after the poll.
“We will resist any move or ploy to tamper with the electoral process. We are closely monitoring all pre-election activities while watching machinery has been set for both election and post-election period. We are not taking anything to chance,” he said.
Addressing political developments within the opposition, Adeleke called on politicians and stakeholders across party lines to support his administration's vision for the state and contribute to its development.
He described his political movement as one that transcends partisan boundaries, characterising it as a broad coalition committed to ending underdevelopment in Osun State.
The governor added that his platform remained open to new members and urged politicians and non-political stakeholders to align with him ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
“I call on politicians and non-political stakeholders to join me in Accord ahead of August 15. It is better to abandon a sinking ship and join the light which my candidature represents,” Adeleke said.
