Freedom at Last: Abducted Oyo Pupils, Teachers Regain Freedom


The pupils and teachers abducted by gunmen in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have regained their freedom after spending more than 50 days in captivity.

The development was announced on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post on X.

“Finally, the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Oriire, Oyo, have been freed by their abductors,” Onanuga wrote.

The victims were kidnapped during an attack on their school in Oriire Local Government Area, an incident that sparked widespread concern and renewed calls for improved security across the country.

Further details surrounding their release, including the circumstances leading to their freedom and their current condition, were yet to be disclosed as of the time of filing this report.
